Savannah Scenes - What's Wrong With This Picture?

On July 21, I posted this image and asked the question, "What's wrong with this picture?" Answer: On the east side of Drayton Street, the block number for Taylor Street should be "100", not "1800".

The "contest" was over, so on Sunday I walked down Drayton Street to find a pair of signs with the correct numbering.
Oops, both are wrong; these block numbers belong to the intersection of Bull and Bay streets. (Click to enlarge)

Ah, finally... These signs have the numbering correct. (Click to enlarge)

I think there just might be a couple of folks in the Savannah street maintenance department that like to mess with the tourist crowd. Posted by Picasa

Savannah Scenes - Florida Tourists

I can't say that I blame them.

With all that heat and humidity in Southwest Florida, it's not odd that folks would travel to coastal Georgia where the weather is... oh, wait, never mind...

Back in the Day - View From a Hill

This candid was taken in 1972 with Kodak Tri-X in the F2 through the 300 mm.

This shows how the subject can be isolated from the back/foreground by using focus and contrast. Everyone (well, almost everyone) under the age of 25 was wearing a dark blue "navy" coat in those days, so not much was required in the darkroom for emphasis. This image is a cropped scan of the 8 by 10 on Kodabromide number 4 (very high contrast) photo paper. Isolated focus was easy, as the couple was nearly 100 yards away and I took the shot with the 300 mm "wide-open" at f4.5. Posted by Picasa
